The great granddaughter of a lovely “meme” commissioned woodwork at 17th to create unique christmas presents for her family. Growing up, she remembered everyone in the family having fond memories of her great grandmother’s home in west Austin. When the house was torn down and the tree removed to pave a highway, they asked that the tree stumps be brought to their home… and then this year, they decided to give every great grandchild a piece of their family history. Austin flattened and shaped various tree stumps and limbs of the 100+ year old white oak tree to create side tables. Wanting all of them to look unique, some are on metal bases, one on wheels, one (not shown) is whitewashed with the family recipes hand written all over the top of the stump. This was project was humbling to say the least.
